A Webinar program " Designing Streets for People' Held on 9th March 2018 in Volunteer Partnership with UN-HABITAT Nepal, Nepal Research and Education Network (NREN), Nepal Engineering Association (NEA), and Institute of Engineering (IOE). This workshop aimed to discuss the Global Street Design Guide (GSDG) how this can be relevant for in Nepali context.

The main speaker was Mr. Abhimanyu Prakash, Abhimanyu Prakash joined NACTO in early 2015 and is a Program Manager for the Global Designing Cities Initiative, a multi-year program that developed the Global Street Design Guide and works with cities on street and public space design around the world through Bloomberg’s Initiative for Global Road Safety(BIGRS). He leads the projects and activities in the African and Asian cities under the BIGRS program, primarily in the cities of Addis Ababa, Accra, and Mumbai.

As an urban designer and architect, Abhimanyu has gained global expertise in these fields through his past engagements in India, Germany and New York City. He graduated with the Lucille Smyser Prize from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Sushant School of Art and Architecture, New Delhi where he was the recipient of various awards including the National Thesis Award awarded by the Indian Council for Architecture.

Urban Dabali is a platform created by Center for Integrated Urban Development (CIUD) in 2010, where different urban issued are discussed.

As the second series of Webinars, Urban Dabali - a platform for urban stakeholders to learn, share and disseminate knowledge on various contemporary urban issues that help in the policy advocacy and policy influence, held webinar on Earthquake Housing Reconstruction on Urban Areas of Nepal on 19th July 2018.

The resource person for the session was Prof. Dr. Bijaya Krishna Shrestha, who has been associated with the urban design and conservation-related practices for more than 25 years. Prof. Shrestha has worked as an architect for the government of Nepal, researcher for the United Nations Center for Regional Development (UNCRD), worked for Asian Development Bank (ADB), UN-Habitat and UNICEF. He is currently working as a freelance consultant and also teaching as a visiting faculty at Khwopa Engineering College.
